Sensei Jacques Badenhorst is active in Karate since 1998. He competed in various National competititons and has attended over 5+ WUKF world Karate Championships.

Dragons Karate Academy (DKA) was established in 2015 under the watchful eye of South African Shotokan Karate Academy. (S.A.S.K.A).

During 2019 DKA enrolled with United Shotokan-Ryu (USR) which is an independent Shotokan Karate Union founded in South Africa in 2018. The Union has been formed based on a modern ideology which will strive to meet and serve the diverse needs of our members and instructors.

No shortcuts are taken on this journey. Cultivating respect along with a positive, self-motivated and self-disciplined character is at the top of our list in enriching the student’s journey towards becoming a well-rounded Shotokan karateka. The teaching methods applied are aimed to equip the karateka with a thorough understanding of bunkai (application), the technical standards of the grading syllabus’ and Shotokan terminology; while improving concentration, strength and fitness. The Academy is committed to each student’s unique goals – whether to improve physically, technically or competitively.

As part of USR’s objectives, world class instructors are brought to South Africa on an annual basis, specifically to the Eastern Cape, Western Cape and Gauteng.
